Congrats on getting your code running and your website posted! It looks fantastic and I’m so excited to see where you go with it from here. Your idea to build a very unique teaching resource is smart–I can imagine teachers really using it.
The first thing I notice when I go to your website is the photo on the front page. The black and white really draws me in a sets a tone for the work I’ll be engaging on the site. It’s lovely! As you continue to build your site, would it be possible to center the image? And maybe even trim it so that its more of a banner than a square image?
Right away I also notice the clever title, and as I scroll down I notice your copyright line as well! I love it, and might steal it for my and Maura’s project 😉
As continue through your site, I look to the navigation and don’t really know what n+7 means. It reminds me of sequences in math, but I also haven’t taken math since high school. Maybe use a heading there that’s a bit more descriptive/ accessible?
Once I click on the machine, I can’t help but notice two things: there’s no title or byline on the poem (make sure to cite!) and there are some weird characters in the text of the poem (as I’m sure you’ve noticed). I also get a little bit lost because there isn’t a button to get back to the primary website, and I just click the back arrow.
Your directions page is very clear and helpful! It might be a bit boring visually, but I know you guys are just getting started. The download link in particular is crucial–I’m so glad you included it for me there! I do wonder about the “I” language (maybe it’s just because I know you guys)… who is “I”? Just one of you? What’s the advantage of saying “I” instead of “we”?
Really positive stuff:
-I’m excited to see what “spin the wheel” does! Great phrasing.
-I LOVE that you both give your email addresses and ask people to reach out to you! That makes your site very personal, and it adds a new level of ownership that I really admire. I might want to steal this idea as well…
Other suggestions:
Maybe add a “home” button in the nav bar?
Add more images? Perhaps an example screenshot on the directions page?
Add a description of our class where you mention it on your “about” page? And maybe add some paragraph breaks here too to break up the ideas?
Overall, great job you guys! I’m looking forward to seeing where you guys go from here. This project is wonderfully creative and you guys are both amazing for using your own code!! YAY! Let me know if you have any questions about this feedback:)
