Sarah Gompper — My Personal Bible

Hello!

You can find my alternative project here: http://www.sarahgompper.com/bible/

And you can find my domain here: sarahgompper.com

The reflection is primarily under the “about” tab; however, I also broke some of it up into the actual project… a collection of doodles, annotations, and responses to my all time favorite lines/ scenes/ passages/ themes in books, comics, poems, and songs.

I got the idea to collect these meaningful passages into a personal Bible from Emerson’s famous quote: “Make your own Bible. Select and collect all the words and sentences that in all your readings have been to you like the blast of a trumpet.”

I used the same tool that Maura and I used to make our zine; however, I got more creative and dug a little bit deeper into its capabilities. The biggest thing I wanted from this project was something that would last and which I could continue to engage with after Davidson. My goal in this project to to keep coming back to it, adding passages that speak to me! It reminds me that next semester isn’t the end–I can continue to learn and love literature. In other words, my project is a work in progress that will never be “finished” 🙂 I think that’s sorta avant-garde…

It’s been lovely having class with you all this semester.

Best,

Sarah
