INITIAL REACTIONS:
Scrolled through the site, clicked through timelines. Went to bottom, and then navigated the other pages via top menu. Was a little bit surprised to see that menus and home page had some parts that were in one but not the other, but also had other features probably could be relegated to just one of the two (more info below).
STRENGTHS:
– Aesthetically pleasing, beautiful site
– Clean and readable text
– Well-written and informative
– The timeline is really visually and “kinesthetically” engaging (very, very clickable) and offers information in a unique way that wouldn’t be possible/as effective through text
WEAKNESSES:
– Perhaps establishing a stronger telos/voice for your page. Right now, it’s more akin to a list of facts on a paper. Maybe you can talk about what the site is about, why it exists, who made it, etc.
– Not immediately apparent how to use timeline; swipe and drag, click arrows, etc.?
–> I would also move if higher up and highlight it more on the home page. It’s one of the stronger attributes and more “fun” features of the website, and I think is more interesting than the bios
– I would take the bibliography off the home page. It’s secondary info that clutters the home page and doesn’t fit the aesthetic (but I get that you want to make it accessible as well). I would also copy + paste the text so that you can format it to match aesthetically with the rest of the website.
– I would add the bios to the menu so they’re easily accessible and people know they’re there (I initially quickly scrolled through the home page and didn’t even realize they were clickable!)
– The banner in the upper left is a little bit oddly shaped; maybe crop it so the faces are centered?
Overall, strong, informative, and clean-looking site with a few possible design fixes. I really love the timeline and would love to see it front and center on the home page. Great work! 🙂

We tried to include the “introduction” to the top of the site to combat this a little- what could we add to the intro to maybe further address this problem? Maybe make it bigger or play with the text itself so that it stands out more?

I personally think the timeline is super easy to use but maybe I am bias, but we could put directions in with the timeline but I am concerned that this would make the website look less clean- the more text we use the worse off I think we are personally… thoughts?

We have reordered the site a little so the timeline comes before the biographies and hopefully stands out more with the color change we have made as well!

if we copy and paste the text, it loses its particular formatting which we are pretty concerned about- maybe we change the format or view of the document itself because I agree it could use some tuning!

noted and done!

changed!
– I like the intro! Only, I might break the last sentence into a new paragraph to set it apart visually and clearly state the purpose. Also, it should be “site” rather than “cite.”
– Makes sense. The arrows are good too, for the timeline!
– I love the timeline up top now, looks really good!
– Interesting thoughts on the bibliography, your call.
– Bios look good in the menu!
– New banner looks good.

Hi! To address some of our weaknesses:
– Perhaps establishing a stronger telos/voice for your page. Right now, it’s more akin to a list of facts on a paper. Maybe you can talk about what the site is about, why it exists, who made it, etc.
