Grateful for Second Chances: Prototype #2

My goals for this prototype were to solidify my idea for the actual text of my book and better establish the book’s aesthetic.

I was much more realistic with myself about how much progress I expected to make and therefore met my goals! Although this prototype is still very rough, I was finally able to envision what the final product might look like. I came to terms with the fact that writing a story and illustrating it wouldn’t be my speed. I kept trying to put off coming up with a great story idea and I am not great at drawing. So, I decided to lean into that direction and make a pop-up book about the ways that I procrastinate. Coming up with an A-Z book of procrastination techniques was (both fortunately and unfortunately) very easy for me! I came up with a list of what procrastination technique would correspond with each letter of the alphabet, make rough pages, and started working on the collage aspects of the images. I wasn’t able to come up with picture ideas for each page or good ideas for the tough letters (what is a verb that starts with x?) but I am not so stressed about idea generation anymore. I’m on a roll!

For my next prototype, I hope to create final designs for each of my pages and write the foreword to my book so that I can do finishing touches over the weekend.
