Bobby Busch: Take 2

With my second prototype, I tried to improve upon some of the goals I set after my first effort. What I thought was very helpful was commentary from some of y’all. One thing that Will pointed out to me was about my final page. I was having doubts about my “deconstruction of a beer” on the final page. I wanted a three dimensional aspect to my book, but the scrap metal did not fit the general theme of my book. While it added a tactile element, my book does not seem to go the modern way that I think that idea portrays. Instead, I was able to create a moveable piece in the book.

While you cannot see it in the photo real well, this cartoon beer can can actually be spun. I think it was both a fun and creative addition to the story. I was able to thicken up the front cover a bit so that it did not bleed on to the next page but I foresee that I will need to make adjustments to clean up the look and ensure stability when turning the page. The biggest problem I face is time. While I would like to restitch my book and recut my pages, I have invested so much time and effort into the hand drawn pictures. I just do not have the time in my schedule to do so, since I have so many assignments this week. If I can portion out the time, I want to clean up the pictures and clear up the text so it is more legible. The binding is still staples, but I am starting to dislike them. After some feedback I think I can appropriately clean up my book for the final prototype.
