How the Sunflower Got its Nickname – prototype 2

Overall this prototype was the easiest. All I had to do was make sure I had enough pages by cutting the text and paper clipping it to the page it would be on. I was glad that I had not redone the book binding because my book’s original set up did not have enough pages to complete the story.

My goal this time was to ensure the text wasn’t jumbled throughout the book. While some pages will only be text, I did not want them all to be. I had to plan each page to make sure I saved room for the picture. I succeeded in fulfilling this goal and found more places where a picture would make sense.

I tried to incorporate the accordion fold that is at the beginning of my book but was unsuccessful. I don’t know what I am going to do with that fold yet. It could possibly be the co-cover ( some books have the main front cover and then the first page is the title again).  I also failed in a more long term way. This is because in the first prototype, I wrote what part of the text would be on the pages but in this prototype I changed it.  I learned that your first idea might not be the best idea. My original book had a vertical format but I realized I wouldn’t have to cut my pictures up if I put them in sideways. The book is now horizontal and that also helped keep the text spaced out.
