How the Sunflower got Her Name – Prototype 1
For my first prototype I decided to write my story before doing any binding. This way I know there are enough pages to tell the whole story without cramming words on a page. It also left the option for me to do pull out pages for images in the book that would be better represented on a bigger page. My goal was to figure out the story I wanted to tell and then make an outline for the booklet. For my outline I wrote which parts of the story would go on what page and left it loose in case I needed to use more pages. I also found and edited pictures to put in my book.
My goal here was to ensure that the requirements that weren’t met in the text would be met in the pictures. I had the hardest time trying to figure out where to stick the emoji; however, a crown can go anywhere so I put one on my book cover picture. I achieved all of the goals I mentioned above except the outline. I made the mistake of outlining from the end of the story (from the back cover of the book to the front) and now I am trying to figure out how to add extra pages without messing up the current spreads. I learned that sometimes it’s okay to work out of order and start over when necessary. In writing my story first, I was able to be more creative with the booklet. I also learned that it’s easier to be creative when you start with an idea.
