Hey friends! For my alternative domain project, I moved my final essay into its own website—a subdomain off my personal site—and spent a lot of time re-writing, re-formatting, and re-discovering the things about the paper that I liked and how to present them well. My goal was to take a piece that I originally published on Atavist and move it onto a personal domain. I’ve loved using Atavist ever since I first discovered it during Building Stories last semester, but it’s always irked me that I don’t exactly own the things I publish there: there’s always the “.atavist.com” in the URL, and I can’t I-Frame it into my personal domain. So, this project is my attempt to keep the style and elegance and aesthetic of a platform like Atavist, but to do it in my own personal domain using a Genesis framework (which I’ve never worked with before).
Enjoy, and have a great summer everybody!
